Mark Rinaldi
Barrister

MARK RINALDI is a leading Australian industrial relations and employment law barrister (recognised as such by Doyle’s Guide) advising and representing both employers and employees, and a nationally accredited mediator. Mark signed the Victorian Bar Roll on 22 May 1997. He is a member of the Victorian Bar and Tasmanian Bar, and an interstate member of the Western Australian Bar Association. He has chambers in Melbourne and in Hobart. He was admitted to practice in Western Australia and the High Court of Australia in 1991 and in Victoria in 1994.

Mark was associate to Justice Robert French of the Federal Court (later Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia) in 1990-91. He was a solicitor and Senior Associate at Freehills in Perth and Melbourne for 6 years after completing his articles at Freehills in Perth. He practises in employment, industrial, commercial and administrative law, providing specialised advice and court representation.

Mark is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of Tasmania Law School, a senior fellow at the Monash University Faculty of Law and a regular presenter of continuing legal education seminars.

He is a general editor of Thomson Reuters’ National Workplace Relations online and looseleaf service and Fair Work Legislation publication, a national committee member of the Australian Labour Law Association and a member of the Industrial Relations Societies of Victoria and Tasmania.

Mark was accredited as a mediator under the National Mediator Accreditation System in December 2020, and has mediated many disputes both before and since receiving that accreditation.

He has studied Superannuation Law at postgraduate level at the University of Melbourne, and has appeared in superannuation cases including in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
